Meet your guide in Piazza della Libertà, where you can admire the Church of San Francesco d'Assisi and the adjacent former convent, now the Town Hall, as well as the Guglia di Sant’Oronzo, one of the patron saints of Ostuni. You will explore the charming narrow streets of Ostuni, heading towards Via Cattedrale to reach the Church of San Vito and the museum housed in the former monastery, the Museum of Pre-Classical Civilizations of Southern Murgia. The tour continues towards the Scoppa Arch, which picturesquely connects the Bishop's Palace to the Seminary, creating a unique and captivating view. From here, you will reach the ancient Aragonese Walls, offering breathtaking views and telling centuries of history, perfectly integrated into the picturesque landscape of Ostuni. Stop for a typical Puglian aperitif in the enchanting White City. It’s a moment of conviviality, where the warmth of the people and the beauty of the scenery come together, creating an unforgettable experience that celebrates the richness of Puglian tradition.
Afternoon: Head to Brindisi. The tour begins at the Virgilio staircase in the heart of Brindisi’s inner port. Climbing the staircase, you will admire the iconic Roman Columns up close, a symbol of the city and a testament to Brindisi’s historical significance in ancient trade and communication. They evoke the city’s connection to its Roman past and cultural heritage. You will reach Piazza Duomo, where you can admire the magnificent Cathedral of San Giovanni Battista. From there, you will head to Palazzo Granafei-Nervegna, an architectural treasure that tells the story of Brindisi. The visit concludes at the Temple of San Giovanni al Sepolcro, a unique circular church that bears witness to an important religious tradition. After a day rich in culture and discoveries, it’s time to relax with a delicious dinner in a traditional trattoria. Enjoy an unforgettable meal featuring authentic "orecchiette" pasta with "braciole" (meat rolls), a classic dish from Brindisi’s cuisine, often enjoyed as a family meal on Sundays.
Day 2:
Manduria and Wine Tasting On the second day, we head to Manduria, a land famous for its vineyards and the celebrated Primitivo wine. The morning will be dedicated to visiting the Archaeological Park of the Messapian Walls, which preserves traces of the ancient Messapian civilization. You will see the remains of the defensive walls that once surrounded the city and numerous chamber tombs. Next is the Fonte Pliniano, a spring located in an 18-meter diameter cave, described by Pliny the Elder in his work Naturalis Historia. The cave is accessed via a staircase, and light enters through a large skylight at the top, creating a suggestive atmosphere. Above the skylight is the city’s emblem, depicting an almond tree within a well, adding a symbolic charm to the place. After the visit to the Archaeological Park, we will enjoy a unique food and wine experience: a stop at one of the historic wineries in Manduria, where you’ll have the chance to learn the secrets of Primitivo wine production. During the visit, you can participate in a wine tasting, paired with local products that highlight the authentic flavors of the region. End of the tour!
